I was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, a hop, skip, and jump across the river from New York City. Now I live 2,000 miles away in Seattle where I write books and stories for children and young adults.

Here are a few more facts about me: I have curly hair that I tried to iron when I was a kid. I have a three-tone laugh. I write stories about things I like to eat (bagels) and love to do (whalewatch and swim). I love poetry and hope to write poems for children some day. My heroine and source of inspiration is Eloise, the scandalous child creation of Kay Thompson who lives in the Plaza Hotel near Central Park.

I have a husband who was teased about his last name when he was a kid, a daughter named Lena, and a dog, Mr. Darcy, named after a famous literary character (see if you can guess who it is).

I am currently working enormously hard pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in writing for children and young adults from the Whidbey Writers Workshop while making my living as a graphic designer at Partners in Design and teaching at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle.
